The LaserWeld™ stopper layer in Fel-Pro® Performance MLS head gaskets provides a precisely determined limit to the compression of the multiple layers at the cylinder bore, while ensuring proper sealing stress between the cylinder head and block. This vital function helps reduce head lift (commonly encountered in many performance engines), prevents gasket damage and ensures a superior combustion seal, while ensuring proper sealing stress between the cylinder head and block.
These gaskets take Fel-Pro® MLS performance to an even higher level. The patented LaserWeld™ stopper layer limits compression while maintaining optimal sealing stress.
Fel-Pro® Performance MLS gaskets are composed of four to five stainless steel layers, along with proprietary polymer coatings. Strategically located sealing beads surround the combustion chamber and coolant passages, concentrating clamp load in those areas where it is most critical.
Fel-Pro® Performance wire ring head gaskets feature a 321 Series stainless steel armor surrounding each cylinder, plus a pre-flattened steel or copper wire ring that provides highly concentrated sealing around the combustion chamber.
These gaskets use a rubber/fiber facing material (reinforced with KEVLAR®) laminated to a solid steel core to resist torque loss and seal fluids.
