Gasket set questions
#21
Can someone please tell me if the gaskets I'm using are a good choice? (This is a "driver" engine for a matching numbers '66 Corvette)

GM HD 454 cu in, 4 bolt main, .030 over” / #361959, Mfg. GM 10 T A 24 77 Read cast date as Jan 24, 77
Heads: GM aluminum 14011077, (Snowflake) 118cc, 2.19 Int, 1.88 Exh, 295 Rectangular.
Crank/rods GM LS6 Forged crank
Pistons: TRW forged
Currently using: Fel Pro 1027 head gaskets
Fel Pro MS 90005 Intake gasket set
Fel Pro 5910 Exhaust

Block was drilled for the additional two coolant holes into the heads hence the 1027 gasket choice.

Hi,

Those are fine choices for the head & intake gaskets and are well-suited to your project.

MS 5910 does not come up as a Fel Pro part number. We can suggest MS 90502 for the exhaust gaskets.

Good luck with your project, let us know if you have any other questions!

What's the difference between Fel-Pro HS 9902 PT-3 and 9902 PT-4? I ordered 9902 PT-3 not knowing my truck needs the 9902 PT-4. Hoping the only diffetence is the valve seals being different sizes so I can still use it to put my truck back together

Hi Eddie,

Valve stem seals and the PT-4 set has one less EGR gasket than the PT-3 set are the only differences between the sets.

Hi,

Which O-rings are you referring to specifically?

The largest O-ring is for the air cleaner if it applies to your engine, Some of the smaller ones are for the water outlet and thermostat, and a few others are for various ancillary components. We recommend following the repair procedures listed by the repair manual for your application and matching up anything you remove with what's included in the gasket set. You make not use all of the O-rings depending on your application and what components you remove.
